Support Services

The Newark Police Department-Support Services Division is responsible for operational activities that allow our department to serve the Newark community. The Support Services Division is committed to our department’s mission statement, “To work in partnership with our community to enhance public safety and improve the quality of life through creative, innovative, and proactive policing strategies”.

The Support Services Division is responsible for the efficient and qualitative response of SWAT (special weapons and tactics), Hostage Negotiation Team, Police Honor Guard, School-Law Enforcement Partnership, Special Enforcement Team (SET), School Resource Officers, Explorer/Cadet Program, Community Policing Programs, Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, Newpark Mall Liaison, along with having investigators assigned to the Major Crimes Task Force (gang and narcotics suppression).

The Support Services Division works in partnership with the Newark Police Department Administrative and Operations Divisions in order to best serve our community through positive entrusting relationships, problem solving, along with giving a quality product.
