Child Car Seat Inspections
Child safety is of high importance to everyone. Recent studies show that over 90% of child seats are incorrectly installed. It is the goal of the Newark Police Department to keep every child safe and has certified car seat technicians to ensure that it is installed in the safest way possible.
Child seat inspections are for residents of Newark only and are free by making an appointment. The inspection is available Tuesdays through Thursdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To request a free child seat inspection please call the Newark Police Department Traffic Office at (510) 578-4369 or e-mail the Traffic Division at traffic@newark.org with the following information: name, street address, e-mail address, and telephone number. Please provide the age, height, and weight of the child along with the make and model of your vehicle including the make and model of the child seat. A representative from the Newark Police Department will contact you to set up an appointment.
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Verification
Vehicle Identification number verification for the purposes of vehicle registration is a service for the residents of Newark only and is conducted by appointment for the registered owner of the vehicle in question.
To request vehicle identification number verification please call the Newark Police Department Traffic Office at (510) 578-4369 or e-mail the Traffic Division at traffic@newark.org with the following information: name, street address, e-mail address, and telephone number. Please provide the make, model and vehicle identification number of the vehicle to be inspected. A representative from the Newark Police Department will contact you to set up an appointment.
