OUR MISSION:
The mission of the Fire Department is to provide excellent service and education in protecting life, property, and the environment.
The City maintains three fire stations located at strategic locations. The Department consists of three divisions: Emergency Operations, Hazard Prevention and Administrative Services.

The Newark Fire Department provides an array of services to over 44,000 residents in a 13 square mile area. Each year, highly trained fire department personnel respond to an average of 3,000 emergency and non-emergency requests for service which include structure fires, medical emergencies, wildland fires, auto fires, auto extrications, special rescues, public education, disaster preparedness/response, and more.
The Newark Fire Department operates every minute, of every day to provide for the public’s safety. The Department consists of 45 employees working together as a cohesive team and towards a common goal of putting the needs of the Newark community first. Each of these team members is assigned to one of three divisions: Operations Division, FLEP (Fire, Life, and Environmental Protection) Division, or the Administrative Division. Each of these divisions has been designed to support our mission which is, “To provide excellent service and education in protecting life, property and the environment.”
