City Commissions and Committees play an important role in city government by serving in an advisory capacity to the City Council. Members provide input on a variety of issues that are crucial to maintaining our quality of life.

General requirements are that applicants must have an interest in civic involvement, and must be 18 years of age or older, a registered voter, and a resident of Newark (some committee or commission positions may have additional requirements.)

Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee

Pursuant to California Government Code, Section 54974, notice is hereby given that the City of Newark is seeking applicants for the newly formed Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will advise City staff and the City’s consultant during the development of a Citywide Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan. This master plan is needed as a planning document to provide the basis for future projects and programs that will enhance the walking and biking environment in Newark. Committee meeting dates and times will be determined after the Committee has been formed.

Persons interested in serving on the Newark Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee are invited to apply.  Applicants must  be a current resident and registered voter of the City of Newark.  Application forms are available in the City of Newark Engineering Division, 37101 Newark Boulevard, First Floor  or by contacting Soren Fajeau at 510-578-4286 or via email at soren.fajeau@newark.org.
