November 2, 2010 Special Election Information

On July 22, 2010, the Newark City Council approved a resolution calling for a Special Election to be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. A measure will be placed on the ballot for the levy and collection of a 3.5% Utility Users Tax (UUT) on telecommunications, video services, gas, and electricity for a five year duration. The polls will open on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 7:00 am and will close at 8:00 pm. Election results will be posted after the close of the polls on election night on the Alameda County Registrar of Voters website.

In order to vote in the election, you must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of the City of Newark, and 18 years of age or older as of the day of the election. You must be a registered voter at least 15 days prior to the election, October 18, 2010 for this election. Voter Registration forms are available at City Hall, 37101 Newark Boulevard at the Cashier’s counter on the First Floor or the City Clerk’s office on the Fifth Floor. The forms may be obtained online at https://www.sos.ca.gov/nvrc/fedform/.
